Oro Valley Safety Tip: Back-To-School Safety Tips For Oro Valley Drivers

---
ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (August 1, 2012) - The Oro Valley Police Department would like to remind the community that students in the Amphitheater School District go back to school August 9, 2012. Here are some driving tips to help keep our students safe:
  • Slow down and be especially alert in residential neighborhoods and school zones between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Take extra time to look for children at intersections, on medians and curbs.
  • Enter and exit driveways slowly and carefully.
  • Reduce any distractions inside your car so you can concentrate on the road and your surroundings. Put down your phone and do not talk or text while driving.
  • Be patient and leave early to beat the rush.

Starting dates for other Oro Valley schools:
  • Immaculate Heart – August 13, 2012
  • Casas Christian School – August 8, 2012
  • Pusch Ridge Christian Academy – August 9, 2012
As in previous years, the Oro Valley Police Department will increase its presence during the first few weeks of school to continue providing a safe environment for our children and community.
